What is OLA?

The Optical Laboratories Association (OLA) is an international business association founded in 1894 to serve the needs of the optical laboratory industry. OLA’s current members include 254 companies, representing 519 wholesale and retail laboratories in the U.S., Canada, and 8 other countries. OLA produces a variety of education and training materials for optical laboratories and eyecare professionals, including Lens Menu, Progressive Identifier, the Indispensable Dispensing GUIDE (currently under revision), and Legal, Technical and Business bulletins for optical laboratories. The association sponsors an international exposition and conference - "THE OLA" - The Premier Annual Event, Exclusively for Optical Laboratories.

OLA has created a "Best Practices Tool Box" for its members which contains Lab Statistics Sharing, MSDS Online, HIPAA Manuals, The OLA Spectral Transmittance Manual. OLA provides an online forum for labs to share information with eachother.

OLA members are wholesale labortories (business to business), retail laboratories (business to consumer), HMO labs (eyecare provider to consumer).  Membership is also offered to industry suppliers (associates).
